Funding available for innovative agri-food producers

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Agri-food producers in Northern Ontario have from now until Jan. 12, 2024 to apply for funding to help expand their businesses under SNAPP.
The newest intake of the Sustainable New Agri-Food Products & Productivity Program (SNAPP) opened on November 6.
An initiative of the provincial government, SNAPP provides up to $10,000 at 50 per cent cost-share toward the purchase of equipment and/or materials that will result in the creation of innovative food or agricultural products new to the business; enhance productivity and/or improve efficiency or resource use through innovation in the process or technology to improve products or processes; or reduce ecological impact and carbon footprint through innovation in the process or technology while enhancing profitability.
Applicants can apply under one of three streams: new products, productivity enhancement, or clean growth in agri-food.
SNAPP is administered by the Rural Agri-Innovation Network in Sault Ste. Marie–Algoma, the Northern Ontario Farm Innovation Alliance in Sudbury/Nipissing/Temiskaming/Cochrane/Parry Sound/Muskoka, and the Northwestern Ontario Innovation Centre in Thunder Bay–Kenora–Rainy River.
